Crowns

Crowns can be made to look so natural they can be mistaken for natural teeth.
Crowns strengthen, align, and can change the colour of a dark tooth. Placing multiple crowns can transform smiles.

What are Crowns?

Crowns are used to rebuild and restore weak, yellowed or damaged and crooked teeth and can dramatically enhance your smile.

Crowns are a high strength cover crafted from dental porcelain that fits over weakened teeth. During your examination, Your Doctor will discuss the best options to rebuild your current smile.

Crowns are like a crash helmet that is placed over a tooth to strength it, or to improve its appearance. They can be made out of a number of materials such as gold, porcelain fuse to metal, and ceramic (lithium disilicate glass-ceramic (Emax), zirconia). The crown is bonded to the reduced natural tooth so is it permanently attached. This will strengthen the tooth and replace any missing structures caused by a fracture or previous fillings. The colour and shape of the crowned tooth can be changed, usually, we match the colour of the crown to the neighbouring teeth..

Crowns Procedure

The first appointment we prepare the tooth for a crown, impressions are taken and a temporary crown is placed. At the next appointment, the temporary crown is removed and the new permanent crown is bonded. We also have cad cam technology (CEREC) where the crown is made and fitted at the same appointment.
